The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has made an interesting revelation of the new rumored appointment of former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Curtis Perry Kwabla Okudzeto. According to Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, they are cousins and felt the President should have offered him a better position in his second term.

Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Perry Kwabla Okudzeto bears the same surname. They are both from the Volta region as well. However, it was never public knowledge if they relate. The two belong to different political parties, whilst Samuel Okudzto Ablakwa is a member of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Perry Kwabla Okudzeto is with the New Patriotic Party. Mostly, some families, due to their extended nature are hidden until an insider reveals their real identities.

Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in interaction with Philip Osei Bonsu confirmed that Perry Kwabla Okudzeto is a direct cousin. “Perry Okudzeto is my direct cousin. He is Uncle Paul’s son. He indicated. It is unknown who Uncle Paul is since Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa did not reveal but he is sure to be a member of the family.

He added that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should include Perry Kwabla Okudzeto in his appointment list. But the host of the program confirmed to him that Perry Kwabla Okudzeto is rumored to have been appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). In response, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa indicated that the position is a demotion since his cousin was a Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports.

“I hope President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has other plans for him. I heard is going to the NPA as a Deputy CEO which the family considers a demotion but we will take it like that, it is better than nothing”. He noted. Form Deputy Minister to Deputy CEO.

He further indicated that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has not been fair to the people of the Volta Region by appointing only Peter Amewu as a substantive minister in his government. “Our constitution talks about regional balance but the whole Volta region has just a minister in this administration”. He indicated.

But there are similar examples of relatives belonging to different political parties in Ghana. However, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa should be appreciative of the position offered by his cousin since there are several members of the New Patriotic Party (#NPP) who are still lobbying for positions in government.
